From Dhaka University Graduate to IELTS Educator

According to Rashed Hossain, the story began around six years ago, during a period when the COVID-19 pandemic had forced people to remain at home and online learning had become one of the primary ways to continue education.

Before entering the IELTS education industry, Rashed completed his academic studies in Accounting at the University of Dhaka. That raises an obvious question: how did an accounting graduate become involved in IELTS training and English language education?

The answer lies in his own experience as an IELTS candidate. After completing his studies, Rashed decided to take the IELTS exam himself. While preparing for the test, he began to understand how difficult and confusing the overall IELTS preparation process could be for an ordinary student.

He encountered several challenges that many IELTS candidates in Bangladesh continue to face, including a shortage of well-structured learning resources, limitations in both online and offline preparation, and uncertainty about how to approach different sections of the IELTS exam effectively.

That experience encouraged him to think differently. Instead of only preparing for his own examination, he decided to build something that could make the IELTS learning process easier for other students.

The Beginning of Banglay IELTS

Before teaching others, Rashed focused on developing his own knowledge and understanding of the IELTS examination. He then began teaching students and sharing educational content online.

A learning community was created on Facebook, followed by the launch of a YouTube channel dedicated to IELTS preparation, English language learning and practical IELTS strategies.

What started on a relatively small scale gradually began attracting a growing number of learners. Students found the simplified approach particularly useful because complicated IELTS concepts were explained in a language and format that Bangladeshi learners could understand more easily. Over time, the initiative evolved into what is now known as Banglay IELTS.

Over approximately six years, Rashed Hossain says he has directly and indirectly helped around 600,000 people with IELTS preparation and learning resources. His approach has focused on simplifying IELTS concepts and making quality learning materials more accessible to students across Bangladesh.

In a country where many learners now begin their IELTS preparation online before choosing a formal course, the growth of platforms such as Banglay IELTS reflects the increasing importance of digital education in the IELTS coaching industry in Bangladesh.

Recognition from the British Council

One of the significant milestones in Rashed Hossain’s journey has been recognition associated with the British Council.

According to information provided by the organisation, in 2026 Rashed Hossain received recognition as Best Newcomer Bangladesh and Best Newcomer South Asia. The organisation also states that in 2025, his institution received recognition from the British Council as a fast-growing company in Bangladesh.

These achievements marked an important stage in the development of Banglay IELTS and its expanding presence within Bangladesh’s IELTS education sector.

Establishing BIIC for Study Abroad Services

Rashed Hossain did not limit his work to online IELTS education. In 2023, he established Banglay IELTS & Immigration Center (BIIC), expanding the organisation’s activities into overseas education counselling and international student support.

The objective was to support students beyond their IELTS preparation and help them understand the wider study abroad process from Bangladesh.

For many students, securing a good IELTS score is only one part of the overseas education journey. They may also need guidance in selecting a country, university and academic programme, preparing applications, understanding admission requirements and navigating the student visa process. BIIC was developed to provide support across these different stages.

IELTS, PTE and Spoken English Coaching

The organisation continued expanding its academic services. In 2024, in addition to IELTS preparation, it introduced offline courses for PTE preparation and Spoken English.

This enabled students looking for different English language proficiency programmes to access classroom-based learning alongside the organisation’s established online educational content.

For learners searching for IELTS coaching in Bangladesh, PTE coaching in Bangladesh, or a Spoken English course, the organisation aims to provide multiple learning options under one platform. Its growing offline presence has also allowed the company to combine digital education with face-to-face student support.

British Council Authorised IELTS Exam Venue in Dhaka

Another development in the organisation’s journey has been the establishment of a British Council authorised IELTS exam venue in Dhaka.

Having an authorised IELTS test venue further expanded the organisation’s activities within the English language testing ecosystem. Students can therefore engage with the organisation not only for IELTS learning and preparation but also through services connected with the examination process.

For students searching for a study abroad consultancy in Bangladesh, this integrated approach can be particularly relevant because IELTS preparation and university admission planning often form part of the same journey.

From IELTS Preparation to University Admission

Rashed Hossain says his objective is not simply to help students prepare for IELTS. Instead, he aims to support students throughout the broader overseas education journey. He explains:

“I try to stay beside a student throughout the entire journey, from IELTS preparation to selecting a university for higher education abroad, admission and the processes that follow. I believe this continuous support has helped build a strong relationship of trust with students.”

This approach has helped position Rashed Hossain not only as an IELTS educator and entrepreneur but also as a familiar figure among young Bangladeshis planning to pursue higher education overseas.

For many students, “Rashed Bhai” represents someone who can guide them through both IELTS preparation and the study abroad admission process.

More Than 600,000 Learners Reached

Rashed Hossain says that he has so far supported more than 600,000 young people through IELTS-related education, resources and guidance. At the same time, according to the organisation, more than 1,000 students have received opportunities to pursue higher education abroad through its services.

These figures demonstrate how what started as an online IELTS learning initiative gradually developed into a wider education ecosystem covering language preparation, counselling and international student recruitment.

IELTS Books for Bangladeshi Students

Rashed Hossain has also expanded his educational work into publishing. He has written books designed to help students strengthen specific areas of their IELTS preparation. Among them are Banglay IELTS Grammar and Banglay IELTS Speaking Sample Answer.

The books have reportedly received a strong response from learners. Following their publication on Rokomari, they appeared on the platform’s Best Seller lists, reflecting their popularity among students looking for IELTS learning materials in Bangladesh.

By combining video lessons, social media education, classroom programmes and books, Rashed Hossain has developed multiple learning resources for students with different preparation needs.

Building an IELTS and Study Abroad Education Ecosystem

What began as a personal experience with the difficulties of IELTS preparation eventually developed into a broader educational initiative. Today, the ecosystem associated with Rashed Hossain includes:

His journey also reflects a larger change taking place within Bangladesh’s education industry. Students no longer depend exclusively on traditional coaching centres. YouTube lessons, Facebook communities, digital learning resources, physical classrooms and professional study abroad counselling services increasingly operate together as part of a student’s preparation journey.

Rashed Hossain has built his work around this evolving model.
