The IELTS on computer test is a version of the official IELTS exam where the Listening, Reading, and Writing sections are completed on a computer at an authorized test center. The Speaking test is still conducted face-to-face with a human examiner. This format is available across major cities in Bangladesh, including Dhaka, Chittagong, and Sylhet.
What are the key differences between IELTS on computer and paper?
The core test content, question types, and scoring are the same for both formats. The main differences are:
- Test Environment: The computer-based test is held in a smaller room with fewer people, and you get individual headphones for the Listening section.
- Faster Results: You typically receive your results in 3-5 days for the computer-based test, compared to 13 days for the paper test.
- Typing vs. Writing: You type your answers for the Listening, Reading, and Writing sections, which can be an advantage if your typing speed is faster than your handwriting.
- Listening Section: In the computer test, you have 2 minutes at the end of the Listening section to review your answers, whereas the paper test gives you 10 minutes to transfer them to the answer sheet.
Can I Take the IELTS Exam at Home in Bangladesh?
Currently, the official IELTS Online test (taken from home) is not available in Bangladesh. While this option is offered in some countries for the Academic test, it is not yet an option for Bangladeshi test-takers. The only official IELTS test formats available in Bangladesh are the paper-based and computer-based versions, which must be taken at an official test center.

The IELTS on computer test fee is the same as the paper-based test. As of mid-2025, the fee for both is typically around BDT 28,450.
